Amazing Battery duration Over Airplay, but Normal with Apps?

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

In using my PPM on Normal power…
Using an app on board the PPM - the battery will last just under 3 hours
However…!
Using Airplay from my Mac, I played a 2 hour movie, then went on to play 3 half hour youtube videos on the smart youtube app on the PPM and I I still had 40% of the power left!

Switching the PPM to Eco mode resulted in only 2hours of battery power fully charged.

Can someone explain this to me? I would think Eco would have more battery time and Airplay less, by my basic logic.

Hi mate
It’s obvious, CPU in use was the Mac not the ppm :yum::smiley::+1:t2:
Did you check battery drawn of Mac?
Cheers

I did not! Ha ha! It didn’t even occur to me to check the battery draw on the Mac.

So what you’re saying is using Airplay bypasses the CPU of the PPM?

I think using hdmi is just a pass through for the ppm. So power drawn is much less compared to internal app.

Exactly! Video rendering or videogames are worst for CPU usage. Look at Mac CPU utilisation next time. Cheers

I guess I didn’t understand that the PPM did not always need to render the movie depending on the source. I think I’ve got it now. Thank you!
