Casting without wifi or data

I’ve tested out both screen mirroring and casting on my iPhone with my home wifi disabled,
then turning on personal hotspot on my phone and connecting the ppm to it, this seemed to work alright,
but then I. turned off Mobile/cell reception on the phone to simulate what it’s like in areas with either poor or no reception, by doing so the personal hotspot is automatically disabled and the connection between phone and projector is lost,
So I would like to see the ability to create an Ad Hoc network within the ppm so it can connect with other devices like a phone tablet or pc, that way there is no reliance on wifi or a mobile network and data in order to cast or mirror content already saved in our devices, plus I believe not all countries or networks allow mobile tethering either.

I did put this in the feature suggestions category but that place doesn’t get much traction , so I thought here this might get more views and discussion, anyway vote up there if you can thanks as I am really keen for it,

Advantages of an independent Ad Hoc network feature besides the above is the ability to

Connect multiple devices at once,

Allow devices like most laptops and pc or wifi only tablets that can’t generate a hotspot can also connect,

Have total freedom to play and enjoy saved content away from the home environment which is the exact purpose this portable projector is intended for.

You can do this already if you go to hidden (default) Android settings and then Network & Internet > Hotspot.

Better UI will be added at some point.

Great thanks I’ll test that out tonight

Yes the UI might be a pain to access through the hidden menu every time but it actually works,
It’s the video playback that needs attention first, after trying it out last night ,
The connection process was smooth enough, screen mirroring was acceptable viewing photos was ok too,
But when when it comes to play videos of home movies saved in my phones album that’s extremely slow and glitchy both video and audio, that it’s unwatchable, btw normal casting through the wifi router is also unwatchable and glitchy but this is just much worse, so hopefully this can be looked in to and improved on thanks.

All this is due to 2.4ghz interference. Try 5ghz it will work better. Also check if you are casting 4k videos, those need a very stable wifi.

No this is all on 5ghz, now I won’t even dare to try on 2.4

Hm, it worked but the connection was pretty laggy, so it was more or less useless at the present time…
