Can someone please explain why Netflix shouldn’t be updated. I keep seeing this. I received the ppm this week and forgot that I shouldn’t update Netflix, updated it and it seems ok, as in, it functions - what am I missing?
Thanks

Okay, nothing is physically broken, as your light engine still boots up and works. The update seems to have failed. Download the update using the offline method please and have that on a USB stick ready to apply, there are instructions on doing a recovery mode FW Update somewhere but I can’t find them yet. Perhaps @Philips_Support_P will be up soon and can help out with this.
The Netflix app is specially patched to achieve Full HD, please don’t update it.
If you updated it, please uninstall it. Then a placeholder icon will still be visible on the home screen. Click it once to reinstall the preloaded version.
I’ve downloaded and installed the update and the fan was definitely quieter to begin with but has now started to speed up and get louder, same as before. I did this with Disney+ but haven’t had the chance to test on others apps. Does this sound normal and is the fan adaptive so it speeds up when needed (heavy processing, multiple apps open etc)?
TBH I was never really bothered by the fan noise anyway and never expected it to get any quieter so this update is a bonus.
thanks
Is it only netflix or MX pro too? i am not sure if i mistakenly updated it so i uninstalled both. so will both app be automatically installed?
I think i may have updated MX Player pro. How do i check or get it back to how it was?
Yes, as it heats up due to whatever reasons the fan will start to work harder. So this is normal.
Both, and yes, they should be installed when you click on their placeholder icons that are still there after you uninstall them.
When is the new game streaming service coming?
Thanks I’ll do some more testing tonight but new interface is great
It seems like the extended settings menu has a bug in the date and time format @IvoGrijt @Philips_Support_P
Just to mention i also have selected 24HR timing format which is not working
I have updated to latest FW version
I uninstalled Netflix and now have a little box in the icon, but when I click it, nothing happens. If I hit options, all I have is open, but that does nothing.
I also uninstalled MX Player but there was no placeholder, so I got a copy from Aptoide.
Stupid question, if I would do a factory reset, would it also reset the apps?
It’s not stupid to ask, better safe than sorry. Yes, factory reset will reset the device completely, as if you just opened the box. The only difference is that it will of course reset it to the latest installed firmware version.
In short, everything you installed, all the settings you changed and all your logins will be gone.
Awesome update! Fan noise is gone on eco mode, gone! Better performance, higher battery life (Because of the reduction of the fan, I guess) and much better ui in terms of settings. Nice shot with the battery percentage and the estimated remainig battery life. Congrats!!
Great news, thank you for your hard work and listening to you community! Got my PPM yesterday and am very impressed - everything just worked without flaw out-of-the-box. Cool!
I gotta say - this is crazy, my laptop fan is louder than the PPMax! Haha
Update not working for me. I am currently on version 1.0.27. When trying to download the update, I get “error - not a valid update package”.
Anyone else having this issue?
I got same messages, but I restarted projector couple of times and tried again. Finally it worked. Problem might be that too many people are upgrading same time. Just try again it will work eventually.
Hello @Dedohamdy sorry to hear that. I am talking with my team to find a solution for you. I will get back to you later today with instructions.
Thanks @Hmk69… did a restart, tried again and waited a while… then noticed it wasn’t even starting to download, so clicked retry and it’s now downloading.
