Random Returning to Home Screen

Hi Guys
an update.
I entered into the Android menu as I was having type messages on You Tube and the ongoing Netflix issue.
It noted my network was connected.
Reconnected it and went on to date and time settings
switched automatic update off and on
Changed time format from 24hr to 12 hour format
that seemed to do the trick and now i have my netflix back
Hope that helps if anyone else is having a similar problem

Anyone have a fix for this yet? As soon as I updated to the latest firmware I can no longer watch Netflix. Crashes after 5 seconds of any video and goes back to Philips logo. Uninstalled the app, reinstalled, firmware reset. Nothing working. Whatā€™s going on?

Itā€™s definitely crashing when it tries to scale up to 1080p from low res when I initially hit play on content. How can I fix this? Havenā€™t been able to watch Netflix for a week :frowning:

Can you name a movie or show this is happening with?
And by latest firmware you mean 1.0.26?

Just for the record, same thing still happen even after upgrading to firmware 26.

@dmaul77 @wildandbeyond could you please uninstall the Netflix app, and then click the placeholder to install it again? Youā€™ll need to login again but it should help fix the problem.

@PhilipsPrashant Wouldnt it be cleaner to do a factory reset?

Itā€™s better to just re-install netflix first because factory reset will erase all your settings and apps.

@IvoGrijt Yes happening on 1.0.26. Literally happens on every video I play on Netflix.

@Philips_Support_P Iā€™ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled twice as suggested but Iā€™m having the same problem. 5 seconds into any video it crashes back to Philips logo and reboots, all videos start playing low res.

Just to test something: When a video starts to play, please seek forward a few minutes (directly click the progress bar). Does it still crash?

Netflix crash on certain videos is a known issue that the team is working on, but not every video and not after just 5 secā€¦ Iā€™m worried about this.

@wildandbeyond: can you film a short 20-30 sec clip of this happening, and upload it here?

Hereā€™s a video trying to load a random video in Netflix, trying to skip a few minutes. Same thing unfortunately! Definitely looks like itā€™s the moment it tries to increase the resolution of the video.

Couldnā€™t add an attachment so find it here - https://share.icloud.com/photos/07zpfe6LcHN4Ggjnn_Oo4h56w

Wow, thatā€™s not Netflix crashing, thatā€™s the whole PPM OS crashing! :scream:

Yeah Iā€™m not sure what to do! Every other app plays fine. Seems to be Netflix that is causing problems for everyone.

hi guys so this Netflix bombing issues is persisting even after updating to 1.0.0.26. What i have noticed which i thought I had solved is that it appears related to the system date and time. For some reason when i start up, while the PPM interface and the core interface show they are connected to my network, no network services work. If i go and check date and time it is January 2016 even though the system is set to update from network.
If i leave it for 15 minutes + then it seems to update the time and date and voila my Netflix, you tube etc work

Pretty annoying and even if i toggle the settings on and off it doesnā€™t make a difference but seems to update after an age. Anyone know if there are any additional settings in the core OS where one can remedy this?

Cheers

You havenā€™t experienced that? I can always replicate this issue on the Test Pattern videos. Luckily, I havenā€™t experienced this on any of the shows/movies I watched.

Thatā€™s what I have to search for in Netflix, Test pattern ?

Edit: found them, will try them out
Edit 2: which one specifically crashes yours @kugiigi, which season/episode?

What about Netflix and offline download of movies? They seems to only be downloaded in SD quality when played back!

I think all them causes a crash after some time playing.

Have you checked the settings if you set the download to get the highest possible quality?
